As the weather gets cooler, the calendar gets fuller... or is it more full.

October is almost here. It will be a bust month with lots of stuff happening around Red Ridge (in addition to the normally full calendar of monthly events)! Here's a quick overview:

  1.  Charge Conference meets October 11th during our morning worship. "The charge conference directs the work of the church and gives general oversight to the church council, reviews and evaluates the mission and ministry of the church, sets salaries for the pastor and staff, elects the members of the church council, and recommends candidates for ordained ministry" (umc.org). Our District Superintendent will preside over the 10-15 minute business of the CC during our regular worship. 
  2.  Angel Doll Blessing will take place during worship on Sunday, October 18th. Our Angel Doll ministry provides dolls to children and the elderly in need in our community. On Oct. 18, we will observe Children's Sabbath the Doll blessing will be part of that observance. 
  3.  Fellowship Tailgate at New Water Farms; 4:00pm on October 18th. Join us for a great time of fellowship, food, and frivolity (fun sounded too mundane). 
  4.  Community Women's Bible Study-Beginning Friday, October 23rd, I will lead a Bible study for any and all women in the Dadeville/Lake Martin community. We will meet at Prime Steakhouse in Still Waters at 10:00am. Breakfast will be available for purchase from Prime. This study will not replace our Wednesday Bible study. It is an additional offering at a neutral site for the community (and Red Ridgers, of course). 
  5. The last thing I want to mention is that beginning in October, I Will transition my day off to Monday. Taking Monday as a sabbath day, helps me recharge for a new week of ministry with you all. 

Like I said, lots going on. And I know I missed a couple of other community events (e.g. the Dadeville Fall Festival, Loaves & Fishes Charity Gala, etc.). 

I am so honored and consider myself blessed to have the privilege of serving as your pastor! Thank you for being you, Red Ridge.
